Pizza Night.....

Apparently pizza night can really tucker a kid out! Notice that she is still holding on to her bread stick. Around here those things are like little bits of garlic buttery gold, even in sleep she is staking her claim!

Growin' a Garden

This year we decided to take the plunge and plant a garden. We went out and rented a rotor-tiller from The Home Depot. That thing was crazy! I was postive that a trip to the emergency room was just right around the corner. But, we got lucky and stayed out of the emergency room and ended up with a nicely tilled section of........clay. Which we then mixed with peat moss and top soil so that we could end up with a little less sticky clay. Thanks Home Depot guy!

Into the big garden went tomatoes, green peppers, jalapenos, broccoli, zucchini, green beans, watermelon and pumpkins. I still have to add more pumpkins and get the watermelon in but you get the general idea.

All those veggies took up our whole garden space the only problem was that we still had, cucumber seedlings (those are little plants that have already grown out of the seeds but have not yet been planted into the ground for those of you that aren't "in the know"). Also, radishes and carrots. What to do, what to do?

Duh! Obvious answer, go buy some super huge pots and plant these things in there! Can't believe I missed that the first time around. Here's what we did, though much fuller......

And wonder of wonders things started to grow, honestly everything that we put in these planters is growing about out of control, I will have to get a picture. And the main garden, not so much. We harvested our first crop last night out of the planter. Radishes=super quick growing!

Kind of makes me wish that I liked radishes.

Recitals and Birthdays!

Sorry to be away so long, end of the school year, birthdays, soccer ending, soccer try-outs, recitals, you get the drift!
Here are some random shots from Alainna's 6th birthday and her recital. She had so much fun at the recital, she just loves to perform! So much so that for her birthday Brian and my dad built her a stage down in the basement. She was so super excited. She even has Griffen (11) "lifting" her. Definitley a Diva in the making!

Max Attack

This kid continues to amaze me everyday.  You would never know that he was, less than 2 months ago, in Ethiopia, in a care center who while wonderful their job was to feed and cloth my boy not make sure he was "developmentally on target".

To be totally honest I have never been a big follower of the "charts" you know those things that say what a child should be able to do at this age or how big you should be at that age or how smart your kid is.  While I will agree that they do have some merit, as a sort of gauge, I think that they should be taken with a big grain of salt.  Feel free to flame me here because I have done no research on the subject itself it's just the way I feel.

That said, Mister Man is doing awesome!  For a little boy who could barely sit when we first brought him home.  You know what I mean right?  When placed in a seated position he would stay for a few seconds before he tumbled right over.  He has gone from that to sitting solidly in less than 2 weeks being home.  He also did the army crawl when we first home.  Then he learned to get into a sitting position by sliding through center splits (little gymnast).  Now he can crawl on his hands and knees and he can get into a sitting position like most babies do too.  He has started pulling himself up on things.  People, boxes, furniture etc.  This is something that Miss E never did.   Since learning that trick he has also learned to fall onto his bottom.  In the beginning he would just timber over like a felled tree.

For the most part he is a very happy little man, as long as you are paying attention to him.  Oh and is he loud.  Loud, loud, loud!!!  He jibber jabbers all of the time.  Funny though, his cry is very quiet unless he is very mad.  He is a loud eater in his highchair too, you must go very fast or he gets very mad!  He is still  an expert hair-puller, this is something that I would really like to put a stop to but I just can't seem to find a way.  I am pretty sure that he thinks he is loving on you but man does it hurt and he has such grubby little sweaty boy hands that he is making my hair all greasy!

My last piece of news!  Mister Man has gone and got himself a tooth!!  Yeah!  9 months old that's 2 whole months before Miss E popped one out!  You go boy!

That's all for now!

My Kid is a Flippin' Rockstar!

Real quick I just have to share.  Emersyn was sitting in her highchair today waiting for me to come and clean her up and while I have my back turned I start hearing the melody of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"  Hmmmm....I think to myself, what is that?  I turn around and there is Miss E grinning like a fool and trying to belt out the words to her favorite song and the hand motions that I made up.  So AWESOME!!

Miss E has always been a little bit music obsessed.  When we first brought her home, and still, about the only thing that calms her down when she is freaking out is to sing to her.  Her favs. are, of course, Twinkle Twinkle and The Itsy Bitsy Spider.  I don't know if this is the way she was born or if some awesome mommy out there sang to this little girl everyday until she couldn't anymore and gave her girl a love for music.  I choose to believe the latter.

You go Miss E!

Following Blogs.........

Confession....I follow a lot of blogs!  I know, I know big surprise isn't it!  I have blogs on here and about a million more on Bloglines.  So if you don't see your blog on my side bar please don't be offended, you are most definitely being followed, I am a little freaky that way!  But if I had all the blogs I followed down my side bar this blog would never end.  If you would like to request that I add your blog so it's visible for all the world to see just let me know and I can, 'cuz I am like, super popular and I know that everyone wants to be on my sidebar, not!

Seriously though, how many blogs do you all follow?  How many is too many?  And do you all comment on every blog you read or do you mostly lurk?  Inquiring minds want to know!
